As was typical of the southern Palatinate region, our family ran a mixed-use farm for many generations. We kept animals; gathered the fruits of our apple, pear, plum, cherry, and mirabelle trees; and of course, tended to our vineyards. However, only in the middle of the 20th century did it become apparent that our soil and our land, situated at the edge of the Palatinate Forest, offered uniquely excellent winegrowing conditions. Ever since then, winemaking has been both our profession and our passion. In 1973, Friedrich Becker Sr. filled the winery's first bottles, featuring the now widely-recognized label with the fox. This label, as longtime-enjoyers and wine connoisseurs alike have come to learn, stands for unique wines with uncompromisingly high quality. For many years, our wines (especially our Pinot Noirs) have been consistently recognized as some of the best wines produced in all of Germany. We are a member of the
VDP and have also been rated one of Germany's top wineries by
Gault Millau.
